Understanding How Subsidies Work
In Ontario, government funding covers personal care and nursing services only for residents in long-term care homes, where accommodation and meals are paid separately by the resident.
For seniors living in retirement homes or their own homes, most personal care services (such as help with bathing, dressing, mobility, or meals) are considered private pay.
However, families may be eligible for partial government support through Home and Community Care Support Services (HCCSS) or other local programs.
